Wedding MC Checklist - Tip #6

• Interview the wedding speakers

The majority of wedding receptions will have wedding speeches. As wedding emcee, you’ll introduce those guests who will be giving wedding speeches and toasts.

You’ll begin your introduction of each wedding speaker with pertinent background information - the relationship of the speaker to the wedding couple or to the bride and groom’s families.

For example, the Best Man might be the groom’s best friend. The maid or matron of honor and the bride might have known each other since they were six years old. Or the speaker proposing a toast to the bride might be a close family friend or relative.

Then you might add a short anecdote or Wedding MC Joke as part of the introduction.

Wedding MC Jokes are always well received by the wedding guests when they’re funny and tasteful.

Here’s a tip that will save you some embarrassment: Be sure to note down exactly how the speaker’s first and last names are pronounced. Write it out phonetically on your Wedding MC run sheet to be sure you have the pronunciation correct.
